In the cup, discover notes of ripe pineapple, vanilla and boozy aromatics, complemented by intense sweetness, a rich syrupy texture and a vibrant tropical character.
A distinctive coffee for those who enjoy exploring bold flavours and unconventional sensory experiences.
Origin and Processing
Located in Costa Rica's Central Valley, Las Lajas is run by the Chacón family, whose approach to coffee processing places particular emphasis on fruit selection and carefully managed drying conditions.
Golden Tropic undergoes the distinctive Alma Negra process, a natural method based on slow, controlled dehydration of whole coffee cherries.
The process begins with the selection of fully ripe cherries measuring above 22 degrees Brix. They are then sorted through flotation and electronic inspection to remove defective fruit.
The cherries are slowly dried whole on protected greenhouse patios for 22–30 days, depending on sunlight conditions.
Once drying is complete, the coffee rests in storage for at least 60 days, allowing its moisture to stabilise before hulling and final sorting.
This meticulous approach contributes to the coffee's concentrated sweetness, intense tropical aromas and distinctive boozy character.
