Mexico Quetzal – Mountain Water Decaf

Great coffee doesn't have to come with caffeine. Quetzal shows that decaffeinated coffee can still offer a beautifully balanced and enjoyable cup, full of natural flavour.

Grown in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico, this coffee brings together the work of smallholder farmers from communities across the Sierra Madre, where shade-grown coffee has a long-standing tradition.

In the cup, discover notes of orange, bright citrus and brown sugar, complemented by pleasant acidity, a smooth body and a clean, sweet finish.

Flavour Profile

Tasting notes: Orange · Citrus · Brown Sugar

Cup profile: Balanced, sweet and refreshing, with gentle citrus acidity and a smooth body.

Origin and Processing

Quetzal comes from Café Capitán, a project connecting coffee-growing communities across the Frailesca and Sierra Mariscal regions of Chiapas. The coffee is sourced from 24 communities whose farms benefit from the distinctive microclimates and biodiversity of the Sierra Madre.

Decaffeination takes place at Descamex in Veracruz using the Mountain Water Process. This method uses water sourced from Pico de Orizaba to remove caffeine without chemical solvents, while helping preserve the coffee's natural flavours and aromas.

Why You'll Love It

If you want to enjoy specialty coffee while reducing your caffeine intake, Quetzal offers a satisfying combination of natural sweetness, refreshing citrus and a smooth, balanced character.

Recommended brewing methods: Espresso, V60, AeroPress, Moka Pot and automatic coffee machines.
